The company has been at the forefront of Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) design and operation since this type of vessels first came into service. From 1978 to present our PSV's have been continuously employed by Shell, UK to service installations in the central and northern North Sea.
Østensjø was the first company to introduce Dynamic Positioning system on board supply vessels used for conventional cargo operations. This is now standard on all PSVs within the company. The company has also worked closely with Kongsberg Maritime and taken part in the development of several DP reference systems and has by that been one of the first companies to take new technology into use.
Other features introduced by the company are:
- High sides and high stern with the purpose of providing a dry working deck and thus excellent protection for deck personnel
- Cargo manifold moved to a deck above main deck in order to protect the personnel from shifting cargo
- Large open areas for cargo manifoldsboth on vessels sides and on the stern tank taking account for the working environment and ergonomy for personnel connection and disconnecting cargo hoses
- Cargo hose securing devices
- Drip trays to collect oil spill
The PSVs have worked for most supply boat charterers both on the Norwegian, UK and Dutch sector.
The vessels have also operated in support of major subsea pipelaying projects in the North Sea, in the Mediterranean and in Australia/East Timor Sea.
Østensjø Rederi AS has at present five PSVs and a new PSV will be delivered in March 2007.
